Women's Basketball 1930

 My family's early days

I've been cataloging historical photos of people and places for the New Ipswich Historical Society. One recurrent theme are group photos of basketball teams holding a ball marked with the year.

I realized I had a similar photo in my own collection, but one that features my Aunt Adeline. She would have been 21 years old in this photo so I am guessing she was in college when this was taken. She graduated from Danbury Normal School (now Western Connecticut College) but earned additional credits and degrees from the University of Southern California, Columbia University, Cornell and the University of Maine.

I noticed when I zoomed into the photo that the women's uniforms are embossed with the letter "M" so perhaps this photo was taken when was in Maine.
